We take pride in our service, for customers locally and nationally.

Our Story: Epic Yacht Management is the current manifestation of founder Edana Long. Starting in the marine industry in 2005, having purchased her first sailboat on Ebay, and quickly working her way up the ranks as a delivery skipper, then sailing instructor, then sailing school owner.

I have done this industry from the bottom up, the long way. Starting with older vessels in all states of repair. Buying and selling, having to repair them myself. Then having a school on my own with charter guests and students having to maintain a vessel in tip top condition, not only for safety but for economic security.

About 6 years go I decided to grow roots, after having lived aboard and taught on my 40’ monohull for almost 10 years. Sailing back and forth from Bahamas to New England, scouting locations to maybe make a permanent home I changed course and decided to head west.

My then partner at the time and I picked Bellingham and working in association with the charter industry, an industry I knew well, and opened our new business doing yacht management. A few years later on my own, I re-branded the business, did a major ‘refit’ to the organization and expanded my staff.

Our organization is always striving to improve, educate, innovate. We’ve come a long way over the last few years but our core values are exactly the same.

Transparency: This industry sometimes suffers from a vail of dis trust between providers and owners. Partly due to the complexities caused by each vessel’s unique condition. We try to communicate knowns and unknowns as clearly as possible.

Fairness: Some of the distrust in the trades, in general, are due to overbilling, or not discussing issues when they appear. Having a good relationship means discussing issues, determining a path forward.

Communiation: A conversation is worth it’s weight in gold. The lines are open, the better we get to know our customers the better we can help them do what’s right for them.

Quality: Our team does their homework and puts care and pride into the final product.

Here is more about our team:

Our Leads

First a warning, our team has a lot of personality….

The most senior and experienced member of our team is Pat. You’ll recognize him for his rustic duster and oil skin hat, plethora of Motorbikes, love of coffee and big smile. Having starting out in Ak, working in and on all types of boats he settled in on marine engines. Decades of experience with everything from small Yanmar sailboat engines to giant Cat and Commings on 50+meter mega yachts. He has an intuition and knowledge only obtained by the sheer number of times he’s worked on engines. Adding to his resume is years running yards and seeing just about every issue a boat can have. His experience and knowledge is an asset to the whole boating community.

Pat is also our lead trainer to our up and coming technicians as well as managing our mechanical department. He also occasionally does mechanical surveys.

Our Second Lead is Jack…

Starting in boating at a very young age, and has sailed many, many miles and crossed oceans. Jack is a natural educator and fabulous instructor, he carries that theme through to our customers when walking them through new systems and installs. Often spotted heading down the docks, he can mostly be found deep in the recesses of a boat, wiring to him is as much art as function. Jack does things the right way, walks you though the system and makes sure you understand the operation. He thinks of the little things and has a strong attention to detail.

Lead Electronics, Lead IT, Jr. Lead Electrical

Daniel..

Here is a young but very capable and experienced technician that has a bright future in this industry. Daniel started with us back in 2020, and has worked in every department. Daniel has a computer science degree and has a 6th sense when it comes to the digital interface world. Our lead Electronics installer and trouble shooter, he’s also added ABYC electrical to his skill set. Adding to that, he has run his own fishing boat in AK for the last 4 seasons, not bad for 25. Working with Daniel you’ll find someone that is kind and eager to help, very patient and not easily frustrated.

As we’ve progressed in this business, Daniel has been a critical team member in designing our innovative APP, creating our Drive database, our inventory system and helping the owner with automated bookkeeping and accouting solutions.

Bartek…

Lead Fabrication, ABYC Systems, Jr. Lead Mechanical/Engine

Always seen with his sidekick Nella trotting along side him. An avid sailor/mtn, biker and adventurer, Bartek joined our team in 2022. He truly has a gift at problem solving, seeing out of the box solutions and being very creative with what’s at hand. He is our lead fabricator using the latest tech to 3-D print the always one-off items each boat requires. I often call him a wizard, when I see what solution he’s found to a problem. He has been learning under Pat now for 2 years learning engine and mechanics and has a solid understanding on how to maintain and service/repair Yanmar, Cummings, John Deere, Northern Lights and Onan.
